On the Soča River the following power plants are operating: the HPP Doblar 1 and 2, the HPP Plave 1 and 2 and the HPP Solkan. The HPP Doblar 1 and the HPP Plave 1 have been operating since 1939, respectively 1940, the HPP Doblar 2 and the HPP Plave 2 since 2002 and the HPP Solkan since the year 1984.

Small hydro power plants
On the Soča River and its subsidiary streams the electric energy is produced by 21 up to 10 MW hydro power plants. The last among these is the HPP Ajba, which started operating in the year 2008 and which is exploiting for its production the biological minimum of the Soča River.
